Getting Ahold of WAB, Siege, and Elephants

So Much To Do...

... so little time. Or in other words, sorry for not having posted anyting to the list recently, but I've been jolly busy. However, I've deserted the wife and children, and popped into the office this morning to clear the backlog of WAB stuff that's built up over the last week or so from my desk. I'll send a couple of follow up posts to the list about other things (some stuff left out of WAB 'cause it wouldn't fit, and news about Armies Of Antiquity), but having read through the last week or so worths of messages, I thought I'd comment on one or two things:

DIFFICULTIES GETTING HOLD OF WAB
------------------------------------------------------

I'm afraid that there's not much I can do other than apologise for the difficulty of getting hold of WAB in the States. This has come about mainly because me. Rick and the twins run WHW Ltd in our spare time, and what's more, we're designers rather than salesmen or despatch people. What this means is that we haven't dealt with orders quite as efficently as we might, for which I aplogise but can really only offer our incompatence as business people as an excuse.

To delay with a couple of specific queries, any Mail Orders we receive directly are despactched by surface post rather than airmail, and this can mean that they take up to two weeks to arrive. Anybody who hasn't received their order within this time period (say 10 working days) should get in touch with me directly, and we'll send out replacement copies by air. BTW, the reason that people like Brookhurst get their orders quicker is simply because they arrange their own air-freight and have their carrier come round and pick the books up.

WH SIEGE AND THE PLASTIC CASTLE
----------------------------------------------------

I have to say that I can't agree with Jimi's caustic critic of the plastic castle - I think it's rather cool myself, and so do the rest of the guys in the Studio. Basically its a plastic version of the old Mighty Fortress; it's the same size and has the same 'generic' chunky quality once it's put together. However, I know I'm biased, so all I'll say is that you should reserve judgement until you actually *see* one of the castles before making your mind up.

This said, the actual Siege book has an excellent section telling you how you can scratch-build a castle (using old GW Mail Order boxs as an example - see, it was worth saving them after all!), so you don't *need* to buy the plastic castle in any case, it's just there if you want it.

As for compatability of the rules with WAB, I can't see any problem combining the two.

ELEPHANT LEADERSHIP TESTS
--------------------------------------------

Elephant leadership tests are _always_ taken against the Mahouts Ld if he's alive, or the elephant's if the Mahout is dead. This is stated on page 61 of the rules, though it must be said that it doesn't state specifically that this over-rides the rule about testing against a general' leadership if he's within 12". This is the case, however, so elephants don't get to use the general's leadership.

Hope that helps,

Jervis
