See end and special rules for notes on reasons and source.
THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE ARMY LIST , IT IS TO BE USED WITH THE ASSYRIAN LIST IN AOA.
1) All rules as in AOA.
2) All Assryian Main Battle Line troops are stubborn.
3) Medium chariots. 3 horse, 3 crew. Impact hits are only d3-1 generating 0,1 or 2 hits at str-4. Move reduced to 7". Does not get the -1 to hit if moved. Med. chariots may march move, but only in straight line. May move full 7" when turning.
4) Chariot barding: Assyrian chariots had barded horses. Barding adds +1 to save at a cost of 4pts per WOUND of the chariot.
5) Kallapani: These were heavy support chariots assigned to chariot squadrons to increase their missle fire. ( normal Assyrian chariots only had 1 bowman each) They were 4 horse 4 crew hvy chariots that were not designed for engaging in HTH. No impact hits. Moves as regular hvy chariot. Str-3. The driver may fire if the chariot did not move that turn. Kallapani are limited to 1 per chariot squadron in the army. They are assigned to a particular squadron and must stay within 6" of it, unless the squadron is destroyed, routed, or they pursue a fleeing unit putting them out of reach. They may not be targeted by missle fire, unless they are the closest model of the squadron, or the squadron is in HTH and the Kallapani is not. Kallapani move independently from the parent squadron and do not charge, flee or pursue with the squadron, nor do they gets its standard or leadership bonuses. (they play similar to censor bearers/plague monks to those familar to WHFB).
6) Any Assyrian Line troop (Battle or reserve) may drop their light armor OR shield and gain the Light troop status. They must have a saving throw of no better then 6+.
7) The Assyrian's were the first Roman style empire with small garrison forces in each district and a very large regular standing army that was VERY mobile, which would respond to threats. Many would consider the Assyrian Battle Line troops as Drilled. If you take this option then ALL Battle line troops must have this ability at a cost of +2 pts per model. (chariots and cavalry may not use this ability and do not pay for it.)
8) The Assyrians were the last of the TRUE chariot armies. They ruled from about 1894 bc to 609BC. Assyrians started with 2 horse chariots, developed the "missing link" Medium chariot and ended with the Heavy chariot. To play a truely historic army, you should not use 2 and 4 horse chariots together. Those doing what-ifs can of course still use them.
9) All Assyrian mixed units may fire 2 rank of bowman to full effect if they did not move this turn.
SUB-GENERAL..............100 pts.
Major Assyrian battles almost never had just 1 general, but had up to 3 additional sub or wing generals. Limit: 1 per FULL 1000 pts of army. If the army pts exceeds 2000, then the sub general may have a 6" command radius for leadership tests for +10 pts.

As AOA book. They are Battle line but NOT stubborn.
Reserves of the Battle Array......................9 points
These do NOT count as Battle Line troops for limits above. 1/2 of the unit must have bows.

REST OF TROOPS AS PER AOA.
I have used the DBM army books to fill in the extra troops. Point costs are from similar units in the WAB and AOA books. Abilities costs from same books.
The shield wall was developed late in Assyrian Sargonid period, so I have limited it to the Royal Foot Guard.
Assyrians used their Med and Hvy chariots like the crusaders used knights and were geared for direct combat with the enemy and not as a major shooting platform like the Indians and Egyptians did.
The point cost of the OFFICER character is up for debate. There is no direct example to follow, so I used the Barbarian chieftain as a start point with 1 less WS/BS/A/I and plus 2 Ld to match the normal Assyrian troop of Ld-8. I have knocked off 10 pts from the cheiftains 70 pts for this. Stats any lower would just make him a Leader instead.
Reasons for the chariots etc are already listed above.
